Minisode Alula JEANNE (Absently) Nova, Alula. Alula, Nova, you’ll be together for a while so get along ALULA It’s lovely to finally meet you. Jeanne has been talking about you non-stop. NOVA (doubtfully) Really? ALULA (Cheerfully) Absolutely not (whispers conspiratorially) but she’s mentioned you at least twice which is almost the same thing. JEANNE grumbles in the background ALULA She said you were quiet too. You live up to expectation, no matter, I can talk for the two of us no problem NOVA Uhm… ALULA Speechless? (Distractedly) I hear my eyes are rather intense. Don’t mind them, they don’t do anything more than yours do actually. You are human, right? NOVA (weakly, confused) I ALULA No matter. I only have three rods in my eyes. I’ve met some people with 31, probably seen all sorts of things I can’t even imagine. Come on, I’ll show you around. NOVA (beat, uncertainly) Jeanne? JEANNE She’s always like that. Go, it’s your ship. ALULA It’s not the most fantastic piece I’ve ever set foot on, but the hull has been upgraded and it’ll be completely and utterly forgettable especially from the outside and since D-Class ships are only used for intra planetary travel, you won’t have an off-planet ID, won’t even need one if you time the stops right. You’ll probably be assigned one for emergencies though how you plan to explain what you’re doing all the way out there in this heap is beyond me. The only real problem is that you can’t make long jumps. Poor thing’ll shatter straight to pieces, but all in all it’ll be just a few day slower than a C-class but the time you lose is about equal to the time it would take for a C-class to go through customs and inventory, wasted buying out guards, bribes, and whatnot. You’ll be able to just land which is brilliant. Did you come up with all that yourself? NOVA (silence) ALULA (kindly) I asked if you came up with all that yourself? NOVA (beat) I can talk now? ALULA (laughs) Of course, you can always interrupt me. NOVA I didn’t think about any of that. I just wanted something that was my own. ALULA (grinning) Oh, that I do understand. It’s nice to be your own person isn’t it? NOVA I’m not. Jeanne uhm…she still (peters out) ALULA (curiously) Is that so? How long do you plan on staying that way? NOVA What? ALULA Nothing. Come on, we’ll have to choose rooms.
