Minisode 2

Minisode: Hatov Becoming Important
HATOV MAMA
You should join the party

HATOV
I don’t want to

HATOV MAMA
It’s really quite grand.  There are explosions, and loktof cake, (beat, then excitedly) oh and there’s your favorite otgos sim’puhwi sweets, just the way you like them.

HATOV
I (beat) all they want to do is stare at me.

HATOV MAMA
Of course, they want to stare at you, you are fifth in line to the throne now, but also (cheerfully) it’s your birthday.

HATOV
(Almost hysterically)
But yesterday I was thirteenth in line and suddenly

HATOV MAMA
(Crooning)
Just look at those pretty eyes.

HATOV
I liked them better when they were silver

HATOV MAMA
Well I like them better now, think of all the good you can do.

HATOV
I’m still fifth from the throne, Mama.

HATOV MAMA
That is a big change for someone so young

HATOV
It’s still five away.

HATOV MAMA
In theory, but if the king likes you

HATOV
Father’s never said two words to me

HATOV MAMA
And that’s going to change

HATOV
(Exasperated)
Because of my eyes not because he cares about me

HATOV MAMA
He cares about all his citizens, but he can only make time for a few.

HATOV
(Sighs)
I know Mama

HATOV MAMA
And now you’re one of them.  That’s why the people will stare, that’s why things will change.  Now when you speak, your father will listen and when he listens so does the nation.

HATOV
But what if I have nothing to say?

HATOV MAMA
Oh sweetie, you’re clever and smart and

HATOV
(interjecting)
I don’t like talking to people

HATOV MAMA
(long suffering sigh)
You can’t just spend the rest of your life talking to robots.  Come on, let’s make you some real friends.

HATOV
They are real friends.

HATOV MAMA
(snapping)
Hatov, you cannot hide in a corner when you’re the guest of honor.

HATOV
I wanted a small party Mama, with just me and you.

HATOV MAMA
(Passionately)
Things have changed.  This is how things are going to be now.

HATOV
But what if I don’t want it?

HATOV MAMA
You don’t get the choice, love.  Come now, I’ll have the attendants fix your clothes.
